Most hungry people don't access the free food available to them. There are more food pantries in the US than there are McDonald's yet, 2/3 of folks experiencing food insecurity don't take advantage of these crucial resources. Lemontree's text message helpline makes it easy for our neighbors in need to access the resources they deserve.
Their dataset of food resources is built on the back of thousands of phone calls and client reviews. And every client is met with the dignity and hospitality they deserve. Since launching in the midst of the pandemic, Lemontree has helped more than 30,000 people, growing 10x per year.
Volunteers make the magic happen.
As Lemontree scales, volunteers are crucial to meeting overwhelming client demand. Volunteering can be done from anywhere and takes as little as twenty minutes. You'll log into a web portal and learn about the specific needs of each client. Then, you'll browse through Lemontree's data to identify the best resources for them. As the front lines of the Lemontree service, your job is to treat clients with respect and make sure they feel welcome in an often hostile worl
