    Joy Evans Therapeutic Recreation Center is a premier indoor and outdoor therapeutic recreation facility operated by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation. Opened in December 2024, the thirty-seven-thousand-square-foot ADA-inclusive wellness hub sits on more than seven acres adjacent to Fort Dupont Park and serves individuals of all ages and abilities through amenities such as a sensory room, therapeutic pool and spa, senior lounge, caregiver lounge, fitness center, full-size gymnasium, and accessible outdoor playgrounds, a splash pad, and community gardens. During the summer months, the facility partners with the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education to operate a free DC Youth Meals site, providing no-cost nutritious meals and snacks to children and teens eighteen and younger as part of the federally funded Summer Food Service Program. No application, registration, or identification is required, and meals are served on a first come first served basis until supplies last.
