The Queens Public Library Briarwood branch hosts the Free Summer Meals program in partnership with the New York City Department of Education. The program serves free, ready-to-eat lunches to any child or teen 18 and younger during the summer, when school meals are not available. No registration, sign-up, or identification is required, so families can simply walk in. Meals must be eaten on-site in the library, giving young people a safe, welcoming place to share a meal. Because it is run out of a public library branch, visitors can easily combine a meal with free Wi-Fi, books, computers, and other family programs during the same visit.
