Project HOME’s Helen Brown Community Center (HBCC) is a neighborhood hub in North Philadelphia that operates a community food pantry and hosts community development activities, connections to healthcare, education, and employment. It also hosts community meetings and workshops.

Mighty Writers North is a free food pantry run by the Mighty Writers nonprofit at the Vaux Family Center in North Philadelphia. It distributes groceries along with diapers, period products, books, and other essential household items to families in need. Distribution is open to anyone in the community; no proof of U.S. citizenship is required, though some recipients may be asked to fill out a brief registration form or show identification. There may be longer lines at some locations.

Philadelphia Parks and Recreation runs this PlayStreet program site, where a neighborhood street is temporarily closed to car traffic during the summer to give children a safe outdoor space to play. Trained play captains lead games, sports, arts and crafts, and other supervised activities throughout the day. Free nutritious meals and snacks are provided on site through the federally funded Summer Food Service Program, giving kids healthy food alongside a place to be active and connected with their community.

Playstreets is a free Philadelphia Parks & Recreation program that closes neighborhood streets to traffic so children have a safe, supervised outdoor place to play, join organized games, and use free play equipment and supplies each weekday. A free nutritious lunch or snack is served daily through the Summer Food Service Program; meals must be eaten on site. Open to any child ages 18 and under; no ID, income proof, or registration is required.

Sanctuary Farm Phila operates a produce stand, also known as the farm stand, providing North Philly residents with a variety of fresh, free produce, fruits, vegetables, and herbs each week. In addition to nutritious, organically grown goodness, the produce stand also features various health screenings, a resource table, and hands-only CPR. Our Farm Stand at 22nd and Cecil B. Moore operates year-round with seasonal hours to serve the community.

A Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Playstreet that converts a city block into a safe outdoor space for neighborhood children to play during the summer. Through the USDA-funded Summer Food Service Program, free nutritious lunches and snacks are served on-site to all youth. No registration, ID, or proof of income is needed, and meals are intended to be eaten at the street.
