Philadelphia Playstreets turns selected neighborhood blocks into safe, supervised outdoor play spaces during the summer. Each block is closed to car traffic and staffed by neighborhood volunteers who lead games, hand out sports equipment and sidewalk chalk, and create a welcoming place for local kids to gather. The program combines outdoor recreation with free, kid-friendly meals, giving children a steady place to play and eat together throughout the summer weeks when school is out. Playstreets is run by Philadelphia Parks and Recreation in partnership with other city agencies.
