    Bethany United Methodist Church has operated a food ministry in central Brooklyn (Crown Heights) since 1989 to combat food insecurity. The ministry operates a weekly soup kitchen serving hot, ready-to-eat meals and a community food pantry distributing food staples. Everyone is welcome to receive assistance, including low-income families, single parents, seniors, unemployed individuals, disabled veterans, and the working poor; eligibility is open regardless of immigration status.     PS 289 George V. Brower is a New York City public elementary school in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, that hosts the NYC Department of Education Free Summer Meals Program during summer break.
