The modern facility, which opened in 2024 on the former McMillan Sand Filtration site, is operated by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation and features a fitness center, multi-purpose room, art walk, indoor pool, spray parks, playground, large grass field, and a historic fountain surrounding six acres of public space.

During the summer months, it operates as a free USDA Summer Food Service Program site in partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank and the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education, offering free breakfast and lunch to any child 18 or younger who comes during scheduled hours. No registration, ID, or proof of income is required as part of the federal summer meals program. The school is open year-round for its charter students and has been operating since 2004.
