  4. How do I get food?

    You can receive food by visiting the food pantry or soup kitchen when it’s open. Make sure to check each resource page to see details like address, full schedule, and requirements.

  5. Can someone deliver the food to my house?

    Delivery services are very limited and are reserved for senior citizens or those with serious medical problems. If you believe you fall into either category, let us know and we may be able to help you find options.

  6. What do I have to bring?

    Every location is different! Please review the details included on each resource to see whether you need to bring any documentation like ID or proof of address, or supplies like bags to carry the food. If you don’t see any information on the resource, you don’t have to bring anything!

    Eligibility: Any DoD or Military ID card holder is eligible, this includes retirees. Visitors are asked to flash an ID at the entrance. No demographic information is required or requested, except on Capital Area Food Bank Mobile Market days (first Wednesday of the month) when they are asked how many members are in the household, ages of children, if there are veterans in the house, if anyone is on SNAP, etc.

    Other Services Offered:

    • Energy Assistance-can provide up to $500.00 to Pepco and Washington Gas bills as well. Clients will need to have a disconnection notice or be currently disconnected before we schedule an appointment.
    • Rental Assistance-can only provide up to two months of rental assistance. Call 202-678-9771 for more details regarding the program or 202-332-5000.
    • Anyone experiencing homelessness or in need of furniture vouchers can reach out to Ms. Tanya Thomas at 202-984-7346. Ms. Thomas also helps with securing ID's as well.
