Info
Adventist Community Services is the community outreach arm of the Greater New York Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The organization coordinates a network of church-based food pantries and soup kitchens across New York City, runs SNAP enrollment assistance for City and State applications, partners with L.I. Cares and the Community Food Connection, distributes clothing and household supplies to asylum seekers and migrants, and hosts the Wellness on the Go mobile health unit along with health fairs and screenings. Support programs include recovery groups, ESL classes, and literacy seminars. This site also operates the Woodside Community Fridge (Gratis Grove), a mutual-aid refrigerator and pantry where neighbors can take fresh produce, bread, groceries, and prepared items for free. Volunteers and donations from local bakeries and Trader Joe's regularly restock the fridge, and a weekly produce drop-off helps keep it full.
