The Athens County Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, known in Ohio as Food Assistance) and related food benefits for Athens County residents. The Athens County Food Pantry, an independent all-volunteer nonprofit organization, also operates from this same Millfield location and distributes three-day emergency or supplemental grocery boxes to income-eligible households in Southeast Ohio. The pantry sources most of its food from the Southeastern Ohio Food Bank (a Feeding America affiliate).
