Info
The Nicholas and Athena Karabots Pediatric Care Center is a CHOP facility in West Philadelphia that hosts multiple food assistance programs for the community. The USDA-funded Complete Eats summer meals program provides free boxed lunches to children 18 and under. The on-site Food Pharmacy delivers free groceries once a month for six months to families who screen positive for food insecurity during primary care visits. The Garden at Karabots grows over 55 types of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, distributing approximately 3,500-4,000 pounds of fresh produce to the community each year from May through November, including at a free weekly produce market on Thursdays. The center also offers a free monthly Books and Cooks program where families cook together using garden produce and take home children's books and recipes. Behavioral health services and other community programs are available on-site.
