Info

Operated through a partnership between the DC Department of Parks and Recreation and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, this site hosts the seasonal DC Youth Meals Program, an open-access summer feeding site serving free, ready-to-eat breakfast and lunch meals on-site to local youth when school is out. Hunger doesn't take a summer break, and these meals help children and teens get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow during the months when National School Lunch and School Breakfast meals are not universally available. The program is funded by the US Department of Agriculture's Summer Food Service Program, and the site is hosted inside the 4-story Columbia Heights Community Center, one of DPR's larger neighborhood recreation facilities.
