Info
The Philadelphia Senior Center on the Avenue of the Arts is operated by NewCourtland as a community hub for adults age 55 and older. Members can enjoy a free daily continental breakfast and a hot, nutritionally balanced congregate lunch served weekdays in the dining room (with reserved seating for frail or disabled older adults during the first part of each seating). Programming for members includes pinochle, crochet, bingo, line dancing, ceramics, chair yoga, storytelling, and other recreational and educational activities. The center also hosts seasonal programs such as the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (vouchers for fresh fruits and vegetables distributed weekdays in July) and periodic workshops on scam prevention, wills and estate planning, and affordable housing resources. A grab-and-go lunch option is offered on Thursdays for individuals who prefer not to dine in. The site does NOT provide home-delivered meals; home-delivered meals in Philadelphia are handled through the Philadelphia Corporation for the Aging's Home-Delivered Meals program.
