Info
Philadelphia Parks & Recreation's PlayStreets program closes a residential block to car traffic and turns the street into a safe, supervised outdoor space where neighborhood kids can play and gather during the summer. Philly Parks & Rec partners with the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Summer Food Service Program to provide free nutritious lunches and snacks to children 18 and younger on weekdays. PlayStreet supervisors, who are resident volunteers from the block, open and close the street to traffic each day and hand out play kits with hula hoops, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, balls, and other activities. Meals and snacks are served on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out, and no paperwork or ID is needed.
