Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Playstreets closes the block to car traffic so neighborhood kids have a safe outdoor place to play each weekday. A resident Playstreet supervisor opens and closes the street every day, and staff serve free nutritious meals and snacks through the city Summer Food Service Program. Free play equipment and organized activities are also available on site. The program is part of a long-running Philadelphia initiative that brings summer programming directly to neighborhood blocks.
