Playstreets is a Philadelphia Parks & Recreation program that closes neighborhood streets to car traffic so children can play safely outdoors when school is out. Block resident volunteers supervise each open street and lead games and activities for kids of all ages, while the city's Summer Food Service Program provides free meals and snacks right at the block. The program combines safe supervised play, community connection, and free nutritious food to give neighborhood children a fun place to gather and gives families a reliable, trusted place for their kids during the summer months.
