Stead Recreation Center, operated by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, hosts a free summer meal site as part of the DC Youth Meals Program, the District's USDA Summer Food Service Program. The center provides no-cost, nutritious meals and snacks to children and youth during the summer months, helping fill the hunger gap when school meals are not available. All youth are welcome at mealtime, with no need for income verification, residency, registration, or identification, and the site is part of a broad District-wide network of locations serving all eight wards of Washington, DC.
