Vinegar Hill Food Pantry is a small hyper-local Brooklyn food pantry and 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020 by Jennifer Macksoud to fight food insecurity in Vinegar Hill and nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods. Each week it distributes fresh produce and pantry staples such as rice, pasta, green beans, tomato sauce, and fresh fruit and vegetables to over 175 local families in a welcoming, no-questions-asked environment open to people of all ages. In addition to the weekly distribution, the pantry keeps a 24/7 Little Red Food Box at the Vinegar Hill Community Garden stocked daily with grab-and-go items for anyone who needs food at no charge.

Next Step Community Church is a non-denominational Christian congregation whose special focus is helping people in need, including people facing hunger, homelessness, and recovery needs. Volunteers are welcome to support its community ministries.

A grassroots, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) food pantry founded in 2020 by Jennifer Macksoud during the pandemic, serving 175+ families weekly in Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn. Provides barrier-free food access with no eligibility requirements — neighbors simply show up and receive a numbered ticket. Also maintains the Little Red Food Box, a 24/7 self-service outdoor pantry at the Vinegar Hill Community Garden offering free food and essentials for immediate, anonymous access at any time. Funded by Community Food Connection (NYC HRA) grants, private donations, and monthly food shipments from The Campaign Against Hunger.

One Community (formerly Fort Greene Council, Inc.) operates the Fort Greene Fresh Pantries, a community-driven food assistance program serving families in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. The program originated during the COVID-19 pandemic as an emergency response to deliver groceries directly to seniors and other vulnerable residents of NYCHA public housing who could not safely leave their homes. It has grown into a sustained operation distributing more than one million pounds of food annually, with weekly distributions serving over 600 families per pantry location and direct home delivery to individuals living with disabilities and other vulnerable residents in developments including Atlantic Terminal, Walt Whitman, Ingersoll, and Farragut Houses. Volunteers pack and distribute nutritious groceries including farm-fresh produce, dairy, meat, fish, and pantry staples, valued at approximately $100 per household weekly.

On‑campus pantry for Pratt students experiencing food insecurity, located in East Hall 010 on the Brooklyn campus. It provides free shelf‑stable groceries, fresh produce, and basic personal care items, and staff can help students apply for SNAP. A brief intake form is required before the first visit, but no appointment is needed. A Grab & Go shelf outside the pantry offers select items outside regular hours.
